Jerome Moross (August 1, 1913 – July 25, 1983) was an American composer. He composed works for symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, soloists and musical theatre. He also orchestrated motion picture scores for other composers. He is best known for his music for film and television. He was born in New York City in 1913. He became a talented piano player and composed music for the theater. During his early years, Moross met and became lifelong friends with Bernard Herrmann.

Jerome Moross wrote music for a variety of different media, but seemed most at home composing ballets. He dabbled in Broadway show music (notably 1954's The Golden Apple) and in classical forms, and, between 1948 and 1969, he wrote a series of motion picture scores. But he seems to have taken on such assignments primarily for the money; producer/annotator James Fitzpatrick notes that he never moved to Hollywood, even when he was working steadily in film.

Jerome Moross (August 1, 1913 – July 25, 1983) was an American composer. 1. 5. The Two Brothers.

About the composer, Jerome Moross always distinctive and sometimes superior quality to the subject matter were his film scores. Was playing the piano as soon as he could reach the keyboard - played by ear at age four, by eight was composing. Close friends to Bernard Herrmann a school-mate at De Witt Clinton High School in Manhattan - two tremendously talented people. THE CARDINAL: The Classic Film Music of Jerome Moross is an excellent album. He is one of those rare composers that have a definite sound and style. That sound and style are brilliantly captured here.
